History, Mythology, and Folklore of the World
This page is an effort to showcase
the mythologies and folklores of the world. What's New? (05/12/06) Focusing on History for now, I’ve added
the Arizona Secession to the American
History section. (01/02/06) Happy New Year! I’ve added a
fragmentary play by Sophokles, The Tracking Satyrs or Ichneuate, to the Greek Section, in
both Greek and English. I’ve also added the Greek version of the Oidipodea to
The Epic Cycle. (9/04/05) I’ve added several new items to the Greek section, inluding Aeschylus’ Oresteia, Sophocles’
Theban Trilogy, a poem by Sappho, all of the Homeric Hymns in English, the rest of the
Hesiodic fragments, Homer’s Epigrams, and all of Pindar’s Odes. I’ve created a Tibetan section,
and added a portion of the Epic of King Gesar; and I created the Old English
section and added Beowulf in
Anglo-Saxon. (5/29/05) I’ve added several plays in Greek to
the Greek
section, and The Library of Apollodorus in Greek. I’ve added The Fall of Troy by Quintus Smyrnaeus as
well. Also, I’ve created the Middle English Mythology section, with Sir Gawain
and Canterbury Tales in Middle English. Additionally, I’ve
added The Federalist Papers, the USS Cole Commission Report, and Yankee Doodle
to the American
section, which I’ve divided into supra-subsections of History and Mythology (5/23/05) I’ve added several new texts to
the American
section, too many to list here. They include The Paris Treaty, the Constitution of the Confederate States, and the Emancipation Proclamation. Several have been added to the
Revolutionary and Civil War subsections. What's Next? The Dobhar-Chu |
